WHO WE ARE

Welcome to HARC - The homeschooling support group for families in Rutherford County and surrounding areas.  Our hope is that you will find answers to your questions or at least a nudge in the right direction by browsing the information on these pages.  Membership in HARC is open to anyone who is currently homeschooling.  In addition, we approach home schooling from a Christian perspective.  This is not, however, a requirement for membership.  We do not wish to exclude any homeschooling family, but we do plan to carry out activities in accordance with Bible standards.

The public is invited to browse this website and use the links provided. We also encourage visitors to attend our August 11th, 2011 meeting to learn more about HARC.  It will be held at Liberty Baptist Church in Ellenboro, NC from 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm.
To be included in our yahoo email group and to participate in the HARC events and activities, you will need to become a member of HARC. To enjoy the full benefits of the fun and fellowship, download an application and join our big family!

Our purpose:
Parents have a constitutional right and a God-given responsibility to educate their children.  The purpose of HARC is to support and encourage families that have chosen to educate their children at home.  We seek to accomplish this in a variety of ways:

Planning monthly meetings for the teaching parents
Planning programs to improve our methods of academic planning, instructing and parenting skills
Sharing helpful resources and information
Keeping homeschooling families informed about legislative issues and encouraging contact with local legislative representatives
Educating the public concerning issues and advantages of homeschooling
Planning activities that foster the development of the relationship between member families

Leaders' Statement of Faith:

We believe the Bible to be the infallible Word of God, the supreme and final authority for all faith and life.

We believe in One God, Creator of Heaven and Earth, eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, and His miracles.

We believe He was crucified, died, was buried and arose on the third day, ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father and will return in power and glory to judge the living and the dead.

We believe man was created in the image of God, but fell into sin and therefore is lost.  Jesus Christ alone can save him.

We believe that salvation is a gift of God brought to man by grace and received by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose substitutionary death on the cross paid the penalty for man's sin.

We believe Christ has done everything necessary through His death and resurrection to forgive our sins and make us holy in  His sight.

We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit to convict men, indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer for godly living and service to God.
